Matilda Outback Timbers is a small portable milling business based 20kms south west of Ballarat, milling fallen trees and selling rare or unusual timbers.

Milling:

We have a Model 10/130 Lucas portable sawmill that enables us to be completely self-sufficient wherever there are logs to be milled. Our milling operators are fully trained, not only in the milling but also in taking care of the environment. They also have forest workers' accreditations, are fully insured and work in with some excellent arborists in the district.

Using the lessons and skills we have learnt we endeavour to get the most out of each log to minimise wastage of a valuable resource, whether your timber is for a project or a superannuation investment.

Timber Sales:

The timbers we sell are sourced from country areas and the Australian outback where they have lain for years, having fallen from storms, old age, been felled for power or fence lines, road building or OH&S issues. (click on our Products and Gallery sections).

We believe trees to be an integral and precious part of the environment and that by milling the log with respect, rather than letting it rot or be burnt, we are honouring the tree that it once was.
